I
am a graduate of the University of Southern
Mississippi in English and Journalism. I
write a syndicated food column and teach
cooking classes in Hattiesburg, Miss.
I am also the author of “Ten
Pots: Recipes and Anecdotes Spanning Five
Generations.”
The
great-granddaughter of German immigrant bakers
and confectioners, I learned cooking at a
young age. My family opened
Schlosser’s Bakery in Canton, Vicksburg, and
Belzoni during the early part of the 20th
century. I have taken their tradition
and applied it to work in restaurants in
Mississippi and California.

My
great-grandparents, Michael Schlosser and Anna
Koestler Schlosser flank my grandmother,
Marguerite Schlosser Hanks and my uncle, Dr.
Frank Schlosser
Since
then, my career has taken root in writing,
cooking, and conducting food science
research. I enjoy working from home in
Columbia, Miss. - taking care of my husband,
David Brasseal and daughter, Anna Brasseal.
